I saw one episode being filmed at the Thames TV studios at Teddington Lock years ago. Big fellow called Mick Robertson, Jenny Hanley and someone else I can't remember.

You can shoot them and I do...A menace to all nesting songbirds etc...evil fuckers along with Jays and crows...Almost as bad as domestic cats for killing so many fledglings.
Just bought a Larsen trap to catch the magpies, they are legal and can be bought off Ebay......My mate killed 44 last summer, scummy birds.Fucking hate them, saw 2 of them attacking a Chaffinch nest full of chicks 2 weeks ago, managed to wing one of the fuckers, hope it died a painful death.

I lived in small town the southwestern States for a bit. Black currents absolutely thrived there and when they were season, the magpies gorged themselves for a few weeks.
So you got street and sidewalks and everything covered in pale purple.
Never liked them since.

Re: Magpies

Can’t you shoot them? What about pheasants and pigeons and shit?
Country folk trap them, then use their cries to attract the other magpies before sniping them.

Yes you would. And why would you want to?!
If you've got them in your back garden you can make friends with them pretty easy, they will start to bring you shiny gifts in return for food
